Department of Law

This program currently admits students at the undergraduate level and was established in 2021 to expand educational activities and respond to the growing societal need for legal experts.

This initiative was undertaken within the framework of the university's overarching policies to strengthen the link between theology and law. From the very first year, this program received significant interest, and now, after several years, the first cohort of Law students graduated in 2025.

The curriculum for the Law program at Sistan and Baluchestan University emphasizes the Islamic foundations of the country's legal system and includes foundational courses in the following areas:

- Civil Law

- Criminal Law

- Due Process

- Commercial Law

- International Law

- Constitutional and Comparative Law

- Jurisprudential Foundations of Contemporary Law

These courses are taught by experienced professors in Fiqh, Law, and Philosophy of Law. Efforts have also been made to ensure that, while adhering to the Ministry of Science's approved standards, new topics such as Islamic human rights, the law of new technologies, and the legal challenges of the digital world are presented to students through scientific workshops and specialized seminars within the department's program.

Goals and Missions

The Law program at Sistan and Baluchestan University was launched with the aim of providing efficient and committed legal professionals to meet the legal, judicial, advisory, and research needs of the province and the southeastern region of the country. This program, while leveraging the jurisprudential, principled, and legal capacities available within the Department of Fiqh and Fundamentals of Islamic Law, provides a new educational environment that empowers students for successful entry into various legal fields.

The missions of this program include:

- Training specialized and capable lawyers in analyzing legal, judicial, advisory, and research issues.

- Bridging the gap between jurisprudential foundations and Islamic law with the country's contemporary legal system.

- Responding to the legal needs of the province and enhancing the level of justice, civil rights, and local and national legal systems.

- Establishing and launching master's and doctoral programs in fields such as Criminal Law and Criminology, Private Law, Family Law, etc.

Necessity of Establishment

Given the increasing complexity of legal issues, social and economic relations, international legal developments, and the need for legal experts who are proficient in both Fiqh and Islamic law and aware of new legal technologies and approaches, the Law program was established. This decision is part of the university's policy to further connect the sciences of theology, Islamic studies, and applied law.

The Law program was established in 2021 and has been admitting undergraduate students since then. The first cohort of students in this program successfully continued their studies, and the first graduates of the Law program from this university entered the job market or pursued postgraduate studies in 2025.
